About

I'm an associate professor of physics, engineering and astronomy at Earlham College. I grew up in North Carolina and started at Earlham in 2000, graduating in 2004 with a double major in physics and computer science. I earned my Ph.D. at UNC Chapel Hill in 2011, studying black holes, then did postdoctoral work in Germany, Ireland and Portugal before returning to Earlham to teach in 2017.

My research is in gravitational-wave astronomy. With students, I run simulations that model the radiation emitted by black hole systems. You can find my papers on arXiv.

Outside work I play Ultimate frisbee, walk my dog and sing karaoke. I also build small web apps, some for my courses and some for everyday life, and they're below.
